Veteran's Benefits Overview

On August 19th Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church will host an event in the Fellowship Hall at 1:00PM for those who have served in the United States military. This will be a forum covering relevant information about the VA Improved Pension, formerly Aid & Attendance.

This will be for Veterans, Spouses of Veterans, Surviving Spouses of Veterans and those who know the same that need assistance where they are living, whether at home or in a community.

The potential claimant only had to serve 90 days of active service and one day during a wartime period, which could have been served anywhere.

It’s a needs-based system. The potential claimant must need assistance from another individual for at least two activities of daily living plus paying for this assistance.

Assistance can come from Family members, Home Health companies, Hospice companies, Independent Living, Assisted Living or Memory Care communities.

Those who can attend may not feel that are at this point in their life, but part of the aging process is planning for this contingency. They may know of some who may need assistance as fewer that 1/3 of Veterans ever apply because they don’t know the benefit exists.

Henry C. GrosJean, Veteran Improved Pension Veteran Advocate will be presenting at this event.
