Next Steps Tell the Story-Salvation/Baptism

This form will guide you to share your story of how you came to Christ and what baptism means to you. "Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble"  Psalm 107:2 ESV. We want to hear your story to confirm that your salvation/baptism testimony is biblically sound, so weencourage you to write it out. It is then shared with the NS Director and your Campus Pastor. The bio should be thorough, but not extremely lengthy. When writing the salvation part, be sure to keep things brief by answering a few questions (To remember the 3 questions, just think of the 3 "F" Words - Failure, Freedom, Following):

Failure – What was your life before Christ? You should have a good understanding of how sin brings utter failure, and how it affected your life before Christ. A word of caution: We do not want to glorify sin, so numerous details are not necessary. But, there should be an understanding of how your sin separated you from God.

Freedom – How did Christ lead you to Himself? Everyone has a different story of events leading up to how Christ revealed His love and redemption to them. The way they were freed from their sins is the same, though. You should give a clear understanding of your belief that Christ is the Son of God; He is the only way to the Father through His death, burial, and resurrection; and you have repented of your sins in utter abandonment to Christ for your salvation! In short, you should have clear Gospel language in your story.

Faith – What is your life like now with Christ? After sharing the Gospel elements in your story, the next important piece is what your life is like now with Christ. You should show evidence that you desire to follow Christ and live for Him.

Baptism – Why were you baptized? This is the most important question you should answer. Many people have conflicting views about baptism and we want you to understand the biblical reason for baptism. It is a physical representation and declaration of a spiritual transformation that the Spirit did in your life when you trusted Christ. Baptism has zero effect in the salvation process. Where were you baptized? Baptism is an ordinance of the local church, so it is important that your baptism story includes that it was administered by a biblically-centered, local church. Take notice of the word "biblically-centered". Many churches administer baptism un-biblically. For example, they may believe baptism is necessary for salvation and/or they do not believe in immersion. When were you baptized? Ok, this is not really important, but it's just cool info that you can share, if you know it.
