Wednesday Bible Study Meetings

You are invited to join our mid-week Bible study & Fellowship meeting on Wednesday, March 15, at 7:00 pm in the Conference room. We are continuing our study on “The Book of Romans”. Kindly invite family and friends. We look forward to seeing you. 

 

Parent Time Classes

The Children’s Sabbath School division has an ongoing 15-minute ‘Parent-Time Discipleship Class’ each Sabbath at 10:40 am at the Beginners Class. We are studying the “Adventist Home” by Ellen G. White. The class aims to teach and train parents practical ways of nurturing our children in this generation. If you have young children and are interested, kindly join the class.

Table Tennis

The gym is open at 6:00 p.m. on the second Monday of each month for those who would enjoy playing table tennis. Please bring your own paddle. Our next meeting will be on Monday, March 13.

 

International Food Fair 

South Bend Junior Academy will hold their annual Food Fair on Sunday, March 26, from Noon to 3:00 p.m. You are encouraged to ‘rent’ a booth/table where you can present the food you prepare for sale. Proceeds from the booth rental goes toward the SBJA 8th grade graduation field trip. Information and sign-up forms are on the desk in the foyer.

 

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is a week-long evening experience for young people, ages 3-12, to learn more about Jesus’ love and have fun! This year, Vacation Bible School  will take place June 25-29, and we can always use volunteers. Hope to see  you there!

 

INspire Academy 

The Indiana Conference is envisioning an interactive classroom experience called INspire Academy which is expected to begin in the fall of 2023 with first through eighth grade classes available. Sabbath School Classroom Painting 

Paint has been purchased for those who have signed up to paint the classrooms where radiators were removed. The paint and supplies are located in the copy room which is always open.

 

Young Adult Sabbath School

The Young Adult Sabbath School meets in the mother’s room every Sabbath morning from 9:45 to 10:45. Young adults are encouraged to attend. Our focus is on the Christian Life Style.

 

Virtual Ellen G White Issues Symposium 

The Center for Adventist Research, the Ellen G. White Estate Branch Office, and the Seminary Department of Church History will present a virtual Symposium on Monday, April 3, from 9:00 am to 5 pm. Mark your calendar and join us as we break new ground in understanding Ellen White and issues relating to her life, ministry, and prophetic gift. All are invited to attend, free of charge. No registration necessary. Speakers this year are Benjamin Baker, Ashlee Chism, Theodore Levterov,  Jonathan Burt, and Michael Sokupa. South Bend Disc Golf League

A putt-putt league will meet in the gym at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings. Join a community event and learn the foundations of disc golf. Contact office if you need discs.

 

Children/Youth Sabbath School Classes

We need help in our Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior/Early-teen Sabbath School classes. If you can help, please see Pastor Throstur or Pastor Ruth.

 

Pathfinder/Adventurer Assistance Needed

The South Bend First Church is pleased to have active Pathfinder and Adventurer Clubs for the young people of our church. Those who are attending are having a great experience as they learn and earn badges. However, more help is needed if these programs are to continue. We appeal to parents to volunteer at the Pathfinder meetings and/or if you can help with young people, contact the leaders or pastors for more information.

 

Service Opportunity

South Bend Junior Academy is looking for a volunteer to plan and coordinate monthly projects that match up the needs of our congregation and community members with the energy, enthusiasm, and talent of our South Bend Junior Academy K-8 students. If you are interested in service to both church and school in this capacity, please get in touch with Chris Morris: call or text (480) 878-8565 for further information. We want to plan now to have a solid program for Spring 2023.

 

Social Committee

The Social Committee at South Bend First is dedicated to creating fun spaces for church and community members alike to build relationships and experience joy.
