Dear Members of Our Savior Lutheran Church,
“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
— Psalm 127:1
In preparation for our upcoming congregational vote on Sunday, February 8, we would like to share a short biographical summary of the pastor whom the Call Committee has recommended and whom the Board of Directors has approved to bring forward for your consideration.
In keeping with Synod guidelines and best practices, and out of respect for the privacy of all parties involved, we ask that you do not share this information via email, social media, or other communication outside of our congregation. This helps ensure that communication with Pastor Hill’s current congregation regarding the call process remains within his control and avoids any unintended consequences.
Additional detail regarding Pastor Hill and the call process leading to this recommendation will be presented at the congregational meeting immediately before the vote. This will allow the Call Committee to provide context and address questions prior to the congregation being asked to vote.
That said, we invite you to review the following bio thoughtfully and prayerfully.
Pastor Nathaniel “Nate” Hill – Short Biography
Pastor Nathaniel “Nate” Hill is an ordained minister of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod who has served for more than thirteen years as Senior Pastor of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester, Texas. He brings a blend of pastoral experience, steady leadership, and a heart for both congregational care and outreach.
Raised in the Dallas area, Pastor Hill grew up in the Lutheran Church and discerned his call to pastoral ministry during high school. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Sciences from Concordia University Texas and completed his Master of Divinity at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. His vicarage at a large, multi-staff congregation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana provided formative experience in preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and organizational leadership.
Pastor Hill is known for clear, Christ-centered, text-driven preaching that faithfully proclaims Law and Gospel. His ministry emphasizes strong pastoral care, catechesis, stewardship, and leadership development. He currently serves the wider church as Circuit Visitor for Texas District Circuit 23 and has been involved in church planting, district leadership, and theological education. He is also a regular guest on KFUO Radio.
In addition to congregational ministry, Pastor Hill serves his community as a volunteer firefighter and chaplain. He and his wife, Candice, are raising two elementary-aged sons and value Christian education, family life, and meaningful engagement within the community.
Please keep Our Savior Lutheran Church, our pastors and staff, Pastor Hill and his congregation, and the entire call process in your prayers as you use this information under prayerful consideration in discerning your vote this coming Sunday.
If you have questions regarding the process, please direct them to the church office or the Call Committee.
In Christ’s service,
The Call Committee
