| Scripture: Matthew 20:1-16
I imagine you feel like me when you hear this week's scripture about the wages paid to people working different numbers of hours. It’s not fair that someone who works twelve hours gets paid the same amount as someone who works only one hour. The twelve-hour workers are absolutely correct when they say to the landowner about the one-hour workers, “You have made them equal to us.” But Jesus says that’s what the kindom of heaven is like. It makes no difference that some work twelve hours, some nine, some six, some three, and some work only one hour. Regardless, each one received what they agreed on, the usual daily wage. Join us this Sunday as we hear what Jesus has to say on this matter.

Spirit Seekers 26 is our corporate prayer initiative for the year. We are focusing on praying for the Holy Spirit to pour out gifts of hospitality, forgiveness, peace, unity, compassion and generosity on our church. Take a slip of paper from the boat on the altar and pray for that specific gift for a month. Then, swap it out for another gift. Let the Spirit loose here at Cornerstone! |
