The 1st Battalion, 163D Field Artillery Regiment, Indiana Army National Guard Comes Home!

After about 3 months of training at Fort Sill, OK, followed by 9 months in Iraq, our local Indiana Army National Guard soldiers returned home in early August 2023!

The 1st Battalion,163D Field Artillery Regiment supported Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve. Thank you to our CFC members and attendees in this unit and their families for their many sacrifices as they served our country, especially during this past year.

As well, a heartfelt thank you for each and every one of you involved in the ministry to the 1st Battalion, 163D Field Artillery Regiment and their families. In particular, the CFC Veteran Ministry, in partnership with the CFC Kids Children's Ministry, CFC Women's Ministry, and Point Man of Newburgh had the privilege of ministering to the soldiers and families of CPT Ernie Griffin's battery of soldiers he commanded (CPT Griffin and his family are members of CFC).

The ministry involved sending monthly baked goods, prayers, care packages, and encouraging notes. It is very likely that only God will know how CFC's outreach efforts to the soldiers and their families might impact on them.

A very special thank you to Christina Sallee, CFC Veteran Ministry Steering Committee, for coordinating all the volunteers and complex logistics to bring a bit of home to these deployed soldiers and comfort to their families at home.

Please continue to pray for these soldiers as they reintegrate into their communities and families.

Monthly CFC Veteran Ministry Fellowship and Coffee Events

Our next events are scheduled for Sunday, September 10, 2023 and October 15, 2023.

We hold these get togethers before and after Sunday church services (but not before the 8:00 AM service) outside The Gathering room, once a month.

Please come meet fellow Veterans, Service members (Active duty, Reserve, and National Guard), and their family members to spend some time together, enjoy a cup of coffee and snack, and be encouraged.

Prayers

Please know that our CFC Veteran Ministry steering committee would love to pray for you and your loved ones.

You can submit prayer requests through the CFC Prayer link https://www.onlinecfc.com/prayer-request and we and the prayer team will be sure to pray for you. It is our honor to do so.

On the Move

Second Lieutenant (2LT) Tom Goode, U.S. Army, is a recent graduate from Murray State University and a CFC attendee. He will leave Evansville in mid September to begin the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leader Course at the Fire Center of Excellence, Fort Sill, OK.

Upon completion of training, the Army will assign 2LT Goode to Fort Drum, NY, the home of the 10th Mountain Division.

On Saturday, September 2, 2023, Pastor Cliff Herring baptized 2LT Goode in the CFC lake. Several CFC and Point Man of Newburgh Veterans joined Tom with his family as Tom publicly declared his decision to follow Jesus. It was a glorious afternoon!

Please pray for 2LT Goode as he travels and begins training prior to his assignment to Fort Drum. Also, please pray for comfort and peace for 2LT Goode's family as he leaves the Evansville area.
