This month, I want to take a moment to encourage you personally. If you need help creating healthy habits and having regular accountability, then this monthly newsletter is for you!
Recently, I was looking for a way to strengthen my daily habits, so I went on the App Store and found an app called Habit (I know… it’s a ground-breaking name ??). After testing it out for a few days, I realized that this app really is a game changer. Not only does this app help you create healthy habits, but it also allows you to share those habits with other people for the sake of accountability (this was the most important part for me).
After seeing the power of this app, I purchased a lifetime family membership for me and my family (it is only a one-time fee of $13, and it gives you 5 licenses to share in your Apple family as a shared subscription). And then, I created several habits that I wanted our family to have together, such as daily Bible reading and prayer. We even created habits for things like exercise and daily vitamins as well.
Once everything is set up, you are able to track your personal progress and encourage each other to stay on track. For example, if the end of the day is approaching, and I notice that everyone in my family has done their daily Bible reading except one of my kids, I am able to give them a nudge in the app. This sends them a push notification that reminds them to stay on track.
Not only can this app help you create healthy habits, but it can also help you stop bad habits. For example, if you are struggling with something, and want someone to hold you accountable, this is also an excellent (and discrete) way for daily check-ins with your accountability partner. So, for example, if there is a particular sin that you need help defeating, this is a wonderful way to stay accountable to someone else and track your progress.
I know that some people might hear this and suggest that I am being legalistic. However, I would push back on that and say that I am trying to be disciplined. Legalism and discipline can often look similar, but the motivation of your heart is different. My goal is not to check a box. My goal is to be disciplined in my faith (time in God’s word, time in prayer, victory over sin, etc.). I want to have healthy habits and accountability in my life. And, this app has definitely helped me accomplish that.
So, if you are looking for a simple way to create healthy habits and to have accountability in your life, let me encourage you to download the Habit app.
