Happy New Year, Keystone Kids Families!!
We are so excited to kick off another year with you all.
I know many of us kick off the year with goals and resolutions and long lists of things we want to change/get done this year. But can I gently challenge all of us raising the next generation? Above all the goals/resolutions, let us stand in the gap for our families, praying and fighting for their spiritual lives about all else. The scale and bank accounts will fluctuate, the goals we have may be completed or may not, but let us not lose sight of the very real spiritual battle we face. I believe that God is doing a new thing in this season for this next generation, but we as their parents, grandparents, and guardians have to be willing to fight the battle and engage spiritually!
Here are some practical ways you can do that in your home:
(and here's my super special, top-secret, tip: It is NEVER to late. Your children/grandchildren are never too old/cool to start new things. Do not be discouraged if you're just beginning, it all matters, every bit of it)
+ Set a rhythm for reading the Bible together. Choose the best time for your family whether night or day!
+ During your Bible time is a natural time to also incorporate prayer. Encourage your children to pray so they can learn and become comfortable with doing so.
+ Worship! Find sometime to crank up the worship music and sing your hearts out together to the Lord.
+ Create boundaries. What media is your family consuming? How can you set boundaries on the content and time spent on different forms of media?
+ Have FUN together! The best way you can connect with your family is through laughter, schedule regular time to have fun together.
We know life gets busy, things come up, and often times things can feel really challenging. We want you to know that you have a family, Keystone Family, behind you. Let's share the burden of parenting/grand-parenting this next generation. I believe God is doing a new thing, so lets spur one another on and be the village we and our children desperately need.
