This past Sunday, we continued our “Asking for a Friend” series by asking an important question: Who defines what sin is? Scripture reminds us that God does—and when we allow God to define sin, we realize that we all fall short. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” But the good news is that sin isn't the end of the story. In Genesis 3, Adam and Eve sinned and hid from God. Yet God came looking for them and asked, “Where are you?” God knew where they were. His question was an invitation to come out of hiding.
Maybe that's what some of us need to hear this week. God knows our failures, our regrets, and our shame—and He still loves us. 1 John 1:9 reminds us: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” At the cross, Jesus made a way for us to experience forgiveness, restoration, and a relationship with God.
Sin tells us to hide.
Grace invites us home. Whatever you're carrying today, you don't have to keep hiding. Come into the light. Come to Jesus. Come home. Pastor Jason |
