In the Dark...Again

Scripture: John 3:1-17

Throughout the Gospel of John, we find an emphasis on the contrast between light and dark. In the opening prologue, which we read during the season of Christmas, John writes, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness doesn’t extinguish the light” (1:5) and a few verses later, “The light was in the world, and the world came into being through the light, but the world didn’t recognize the light.” (1:10).  These images of light and darkness serve as metaphors for kindom reality. This Sunday, we are privileged to an "insiders" view of a great religious leader who struggled to believe. Like you and me, he found himself "In the Dark...Again". But his whole view was turned upside down by a little time in the Light! Yours can too!

Celebration Sunday

Celebration Sunday is this week and we are asking everyone to bring a salad to share at our luncheon following worship. Of course, we wouldn't say no to a pot of greens or a box of fried chicken! WINK! WINK!

Spiritual Seekers Calendar

The Journey Prayer Group has resumed gathering on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 for a time of reflection and prayer. Everyone is invited to join them.

Our Community Outreach Ministry serves a hot meal to unhoused folks on Wednesday evenings and volunteers at the Love All Pantry twice a month. Contact Robert and Raya Engel for details.

Our Worship Ministry rehearses on Thursday evenings at 6:30. Come join us as we make a joyful noise!!!

Online Bible Study

Thrive, our adult Christian education ministry, is starting an on-line Bible study group. Details will follow in the Sunday announcements.

Spirit Seekers of 26

We are engaged in a corporate prayer initiative this year called Spirit Seekers 26. It invites you to join together with the whole congregation in praying for the Holy Spirit to pour out the gifts of Hospitality, Peace, Generosity, Compassion, Unity and Forgiveness in our church. Take a slip of paper from the altar and pray for that gift each month.

Teachers Needed

Our Faith Forward Kids Program is looking for a couple of people who are led to minister to our youth one Sunday a month. The lessons are all prepared and ready to go. Please see Kay Hedgepeth if you are called to this important ministry opportunity.
