This Sunday is Easter! And, if your church is anything like mine, we are expecting big crowds. Last year, we had record breaking numbers for our church, and we were at max capacity. Truthfully, if any additional people had showed up, it would have been standing room only. We were full.
This year, we are expecting even more people. Our city has continued to grow, and our church has continued to grow as well. And to make sure we are prepared for even larger numbers, we have added an additional worship service for Easter. We normally have two worship services every Sunday, but we will be having three worship services this Sunday.
For most churches, Easter is a high water mark for attendance. There will be more people in worship services this Sunday than probably any other Sunday this year. As a result, I want to challenge you to have a plan in place for how you will follow up with your guests.
Every church is unique, and your follow-up will be unique as well. So, I am not as concerned with HOW you follow up. My main encouragement to you is that you have a plan in place.
Some churches are high-tech and are going to have QR codes everywhere with workflows and automated responses. Other churches are more simple and will ask guests to fill out a paper connection card. And honestly, both methods work just fine. Regardless of how you follow up, just make sure you do it. If a guest takes the time to give you their information, don’t miss an easy opportunity to make a connection. This is low-hanging fruit!
I would encourage you to have someone (or a team) ready to write thank-you notes or make phone calls on the Monday or Tuesday after Easter. Just a simple, “Thank you for worshiping with us this Easter. If there is anything we can do to help your family connect at our church, please let us know!” is all it takes to make someone feel special.
I am praying for you this Sunday. May your Easter services go well, and may the name of Jesus be lifted high!
