FEED HUNGRY STUDENTS - Meals for Christian Women’s Job Corp (CWJC) Students:
It's hard for women to find dinner between work and class, and many of our studens are facing food insecurity on a regular basis. Would you or one of your groups be willing to bring a meal to CWJC on a Thursday evening this fall?
Sign Up to Bring Dinner to CWJC
Here are some helpful details:
What can we bring? Our students enjoy a wide variety of meals! Salad, soup, tacos, pizza, casserole, lasagna, chicken, BBQ... you name it! You can purchase a meal (like Rosa's, pizza, fried chicken, or a tray from HEB) or bring something from home. We often receive sandwiches (and welcome!), but our ladies tell us it's nice to have a variety instead of sandwiches EVERY week.
How many are eating? We estimate about 35 each week - that includes students in our English and Spanish GED classrooms, staff, interns, and volunteers. Some weeks we anticipate a few more (for a special event) or a few less. The sign-up link includes details.
Do I need to bring drinks? Plates and forks? CWJC will provide flatware and plates. We have bottled water available.
How does drop-off work? Please drop off food between 4:30-4:45 so our students can eat before classes start at 5:30. You can pull into the little circle drive or park along the street on Clay Ave between 5th and 6th Street. Call or text and someone can meet at your car with a wagon!
HELP CHILDREN READ! - Book Club Mentor for 2nd-5th Graders @ Alta Vista Elementary: Serving as a Book Club mentor, you arrive for one lunch hour (Monday-Friday between 11am-1pm), you help your group of 2-3 children read a book.
