Welcome to this week's "SouthGate Happenings" where you'll find all the new upcoming events, ongoing events and online resources. |
Our human reasoning can sometimes cause us to put the world over the Word. But, this Sunday Pastor Andrew will lead us to question, and ensure that we are aligned with Heaven, and not the culture or the world we are in. |

"What kind of Christian are you? Are you someone who loves going to church every week? Do you read your Bible daily? Do you pray for others and expect God to move? —OR— Are you just a “regular” Christian? The Book of Ephesians describes the kind of believer Christ died to raise up. Join this group as we explore what God truly expects of those who believe." |
Cunningham Group "The God Questions" (book $10) Kid Friendly Group Leader: Pastor Andrew Host: Jay and Lisa Moreno
(Baseline & 16th St) Starts: Sunday, October 5th at 4pm - runs 6 weeks "It's okay to have questions about God- that's the nature of faith. Some people worry that voicing their questions will anger or offend God, but nothing could be further from the truth. God created us with intelligence and the ability to reason. He encourages us to use all our mental faculties to seek and find. In this book, you'll explore answers to some of the most commonly asked questions: Is God real? Is the Bible true? Do all roads (and religions) lead to Heaven? How can a good God allow suffering? The God Questions will help you bring your toughest questions to God and give you confidence to know that He's big enough to answer them all." |
Pierce/Malles Group "Sunday's Sermon" Kid Friendly Group Leaders: Mike & Heather Pierce and Donny & Sharon Malles
Host: Mike & Heather Pierce (Baseline & 35th Ave) Starts: Sunday, October 5th at 4pm - runs 6 weeks "Have you ever wanted to dive deeper into Pastor Andrew's message or wished you had a place to ask questions and discuss the sermon further? This Connect Group is designed for exactly that. Together, we'll revisit Sunday's message, explore practical applications, and encourage one another as we grow in God's Word." |
Troth Group "Shrewd as a Serpent, Innocent as a Dove" Leaders: Ron & Claire Troth Host: Church Sanctuary
Starts: Wednesday, October 8th at 6:30pm - runs 5 weeks "Jesus' words remind us that following Him won't always be easy - we may face opposition, misunderstanding, or even hostility. Yet He calls us to live with balance: wise and discerning like a serpent, but pure and gentle like a dove. For us today, what does that mean, and how do we live it?" |
Waehner Group "The Book of Ephesians" Leaders: Jerry & Mary Waehner Host: Jerry & Mary Waehner (In Tempe, near Arizona Mills Mall)
Starts: Sunday, October 5th at 4pm - runs for 6 weeks "What kind of Christian are you? Are you someone who loves going to church every week? Do you read your Bible daily? Do you pray for others and expect God to move? —OR— Are you just a “regular” Christian? The Book of Ephesians describes the kind of believer Christ died to raise up. Join this group as we explore what God truly expects of those who believe." |
Wilkirson Group "The Gift of Righteousness" Leader: Pastor John Wilkirson Host: John Arthurs (Baseline & 51st Ave)
Starts: Sunday, October 5th at 3pm - runs for 6 weeks
"The Bible shows us that the only reason we fail to experience God's promises is unbelief. One of the main ways unbelief takes root is when we mix our faith with our own works of righteousness. Praying, fasting, reading the Word, and giving are all good things- but they cannot be the foundation of our faith. If we lean on them, our faith falters. True, unshakeable faith comes only from standing on the gift of righteousness we've received through Christ.
As the hymn reminds us: 'My faith is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness... On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.'" |

Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend the conference on Friday due to games. However, we welcome those who are available to join us for the Saturday portion."
Time: Saturday - 9:30am - 8:40pm (we will leave school at 8:45am and return around 9:30pm) Cost: $25.00 *PLEASE NOTE: food is not included; participants will need to bring money for lunch and dinner.* |
