NEW!! Saturday 'Connections Breakfast' |
Making connections among CFC Veteran Ministry participants is a key objective of the ministry. To provide greater access to ministry fellowship opportunities, CFC Veteran Ministry members (Veterans, Service members, family members and volunteers) will meet for a fellowship breakfast the first Saturday of each month from 8:00 - 9:00 AM at the Friendship Diner, a favorite local eatery for Veterans and their families.
Our first breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, 2024. The July breakfast event is scheduled for the first Saturday in July (July 6) at 8:00 AM. Please put these dates/times on your calendar and join us!
There is no need to sign up, just come to the restaurant and let the host/hostess know you are with the CFC Veteran Ministry Saturday 'Connections Group.' This is a pay your own way breakfast event; however, the Friendship Diner does offer a discount on your meal if you are a Veteran. Please bring an appetite and start your weekend with prayer and fellowship, connecting with new and old friends.
Friendship Diner is located at 834 Tutor Lane, Evansville, Indiana 47715. Phone: 812-402-0201. Directions: https://www.friendshipdiner.com/directions.html For questions, please contact Lynn Henselman at LWHenselman@yahoo.com or phone/text at 540-455-9332 |
Monthly Fellowship and Coffee Events |
Our next events are scheduled for Sunday, May 12, 2024 and Sunday, June 23, 2024. At the May 12 event we will pass out information about the significance of Memorial Day that takes place on Monday, May 27, 2024. We hold these get togethers before and after Sunday church services (but not before the 8:00 AM service) outside The Gathering room, once a month.
Please come meet fellow Veterans, Service members (Active duty, Reserve, and National Guard), and their loved ones to spend some time together, enjoy a cup of coffee and snack, and be encouraged. |
Memorial Day takes place on Monday, May 27, 2024. Memorial Day is a federal holiday to honor those men and women who died while serving in the United States (U.S.) military giving their lives for our country. It is a day of remembering, honoring, and mourning the fallen U.S. military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice.
A national moment of remembrance takes place on Memorial Day. All Americans are encouraged to pause, wherever they are, at 3:00 PM, local time, for one minute of silence to remember and honor those who died while in military service to the U.S.
Please take time this year to educate those in your community regarding Memorial Day. Many people often confuse Memorial Day with Veterans Day. Veterans Day is a day for thanking and honoring all Veterans for their contributions and sacrifices during military service – in war and in peace. It is always observed officially on November 11, regardless of the day of the week on which it falls. ----------------

New Schedule: CFC Veteran Ministry Steering Committee Meetings |
Beginning July 9, 2024, the monthly CFC Veteran Ministry Steering Committee meetings will be held on the second Tuesday evening of the month from 6:00 - 7:30 PM, in Room 330 on the balcony level.
The June 20th Steering Committee meeting will be the last scheduled Thursday morning Steering Committee meeting (CFC conference room, 9:00 - 10:30 AM). All Veterans and volunteers are encouraged to join the meeting to learn about CFC Veteran Ministry activities and meet other Veterans and volunteers. The Steering Committee needs to hear your voices!
As background, CFC Veterans started the CFC Veteran Ministry Steering Committee when CFC established the Veteran Ministry 2 years ago. Reporting to CFC senior leadership, Steering Committee volunteers oversee the ministry's direction, scope, budget, initiatives, timelines, and methods to meet its mission. It is composed of 13 stakeholders (CFC Veterans and non-Veterans and collaborators).
We need your help! The Steering Committee is seeking additional committee volunteers. Attending the monthly meetings will give you the chance to (1) learn more about how the ministry functions, (2) provide your ideas, and (3) help guide the ministry's activities to meet the needs of CFC Veterans and their family members.
Veterans (to include active duty, Reserves, and National Guard Service members), family members, and non-Veteran volunteers are invited and encouraged to participate. Please join us and use your talents! |
May is National Military Appreciation Month |
In 1999 Congress established May as "Military Appreciation Month, a special time for those in and out of the military. It is a time designated to honor and recognize the contributions, sacrifices, and service of the members of the armed forces, past and present. Military Appreciation Month plays a crucial role in fostering awareness and understanding the challenges faced by the military community. It provides a platform for education and dialogue about the experiences of service members, veterans, and their families."
