Dear friends,
It is interesting how the Word of God comes to life as we face different situations. In recent days, we have clung to Jesus’ words about heaven in Luke 20. He says, “And they will never die again.” As we have grieved the loss of a much-loved sister who was a vital part of our extended family, we are thankful for the living hope that we have in Christ Jesus. A second cousin, no doubt twice or three times removed, described her best, “she was just wonderful to be around.” What a hope, what a challenge for us as well to be just wonderful to be around.
At the same time that we were saying farewell to our sister, our family welcomed a new member of the family, Luca Schaeffer, born to David and Jillian at the Bongolo hospital in Gabon. We head there today to visit our little guy and to find refreshing in new life and new beginnings.
The brevity of life has challenged us anew to be all in for God’s Kingdom. Whether at the prison, hospital, visiting neighbors, or teaching in the classroom, we want to be light and hope and lean in for opportunities to talk about Jesus.
Thank you for your support and prayers and for sharing our joys and sorrows.
