Dear First Winter Park family,

Thank you for the incredibly gracious welcome you have given me, and for calling me to serve as your Executive Pastor. Lauren and I, along with our children Vera, Roman, and Isabella, have already felt your kindness through so many conversations and smiles.

I mentioned this on Sunday, but immediately after walking around and meeting many of you, Lauren and I turned to each other and said, “We love it here. This is awesome.” That sentiment has continued throughout this week during my first days in the office and as our family participated on Wednesday night.

We are deeply grateful for the way God provided and worked through this church to bring our family to Winter Park. I am humbled and honored to be here. I do not take lightly the privilege of serving you, serving alongside Pastor Doug and the staff team, supporting the Kingdom vision, stewarding resources, and helping strengthen what God is doing in and through this church.

I am also excited to serve alongside you as we love the people who are already here and the people who are not yet here. I look forward to serving our community together and meeting needs in word and deed with the love of Jesus.

Thank you again for graciously receiving us. We are grateful to be home and ready to serve.

In Christ,

When I first interviewed for the position of Student Pastor at FBWP, I shared how I think about growth. I explained that I’m not interested in going a mile wide and an inch deep. I have always valued discipleship over numbers. That said, growth still matters. Growth is an indicator of health. When a plant isn’t growing, something is wrong beneath the surface.

We are currently in, and continue to be in, a season of steady growth at Power House. That reality raises an important question: what is that growth actually pointing to? If growth reflects health, then what does it truly mean to be a healthy church or a healthy student ministry?

A healthy church or student ministry is not measured first by how many people it gathers, but by how deeply it forms disciples. Growth matters, but it is the result of health, not the definition of it. When students are rooted in God’s Word, shaped by Christlike character, and living out their faith, growth happens naturally.

Our goal, then, is not growth for growth’s sake, but health that produces growth. As Scripture reminds us, “So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth” (1 Corinthians 3:7). When we are “rooted and built up in him” (Colossians 2:7), fruit follows naturally. As Jesus says, “Every healthy tree bears good fruit” (Matthew 7:17).
