In partnership with Habitat for Humanity and several local churches in South Florida- including Coral Ridge, CityRev, and First Baptist- we are coming alongside a specific family in our community to help build them a home!
As ambitious as that might sound, as followers of Christ, this is a powerful and practical way to serve our city and share the hope we have in Jesus. Our diaconate is leading two upcoming construction days, and the first one is Saturday, June 27 and Saturday, July 25.
No prior construction experience is needed- just a willingness to serve!
LOCATION: WILL BE DETERMINED CLOSER TO THE BUILD DATE
TASK: TBD
AGE REQUIREMENT: All Volunteers must be 16 or older. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to participate in all roofing tasks, tasks that require a ladder or any task that requires the use of power tools.
WHAT TO BRING & WEAR: No storage available (less is best) try to wear something like a fanny pack to store small things so that both hands are free. Volunteers should wear comfortable, long pants or shorts and sturdy, closed-toe shoes (sneakers are acceptable – no sandals, flip-flops, or dress shoes). Wear something that you don’t mind getting dirty because you are working on a construction site with lots of dirt & rocks. In addition, we suggest wearing a hat and bringing sunglasses. We will provide Personal Protective Equipment, training, tools, bottled water for you throughout the morning, and snacks during the mid-morning break. Many volunteers like to bring their own work gloves, but we will have one size fits most (used) gloves & Plastic gloves (typically used for painting) available as well.
Please review our safety video before your volunteer day.
