A vibrant outreach opportunity, our clothing ministry at Coastal truly is just that! This team receives, inspects, sorts, and prepares thousands of items of donated clothing every single month. These items are then distributed at tailgating events throughout the month. We distribute clothing at public housing facilities, to veterans, the unhoused and more. This team will help to sort and prep donations to ensure our outreach teams are ready to assist those in need in our community. It’s hard work, but a great opportunity to serve and to fellowship with others.

We’ll be sending one of our tailgating trucks to their facility in Downtown Charleston to provide a hot lunch and fellowship to anyone who is hungry in the community. We’ll distribute hygiene packs to those who need them, and we’ll spend a little time getting to know those we’re serving. It goes without saying, at Coastal, we love veterans. This team will travel over to the Ralph Johnson VA Medical Clinic, in Downtown Charleston, to serve coffee, water, and snacks to veterans, and staff, coming to the facility for appointments. We love when our team is large enough to host 2 table, while also sending people up to love on and pray for our veterans staying at the hospital. It’s just a fun service-oriented opportunity to thank those who have sacrificed so much for us. It’s also a chance for us tell others about Coastal and other work we’re doing in the community!

Food insecurity is problematic globally, and Charleston is no exception. It is particularly heartbreaking when it affects our nations veterans. Each month, Coastal comes alongside our community partner, Soldiers Angels to help provide approximately 70lbs of groceries to local veterans and their families. The team will receive palletized groceries will break down the groceries evenly, so each veteran gets a little of everything. We’ll then load into the veterans’ vehicles as they drive through the distribution, loving on them in short increments. This is a fast-paced one, but a ton of fun. Coastal, through our generous church, gets the privilege of being the corporate sponsor for the month of June. This means our blessing will be two-fold, providing an amazing serving team, but also the food for the distribution.

It goes without saying, at Coastal, we love veterans. This team will travel over to the Ralph Johnson VA Medical Clinic, in Downtown Charleston, to serve coffee, water, and snacks to veterans, and staff, coming to the facility for appointments.

We’re heading downtown! Partnering with the Navigation Center, we will head downtown to serve hotdogs, chips, cookies and more! This is a quick tailgate, where those we feed are hungry. This means that all of our meat is grilled before we go so we can begin serving right when we get there! The community we serve during this project is low income, unhoused or at risk of being unhoused. Come share a meal and some encouragement with those who may just need both!

Join the team calling, and playing, a few rounds of BINGO with the residents of Joseph Floyd Manor, a public housing facility in downtown Charleston. We’ll share some laughs, a few snacks and a devotion in hopes of strengthening relationships with the community at the Manor. We enjoy a longstanding friendship with not only JFM but with the Charleston County Housing Authority as a whole. This project is designed to love on those living at JFM, being a light in their day and sharing the love of Jesus with them, one Bingo card at a time!

A public housing facility right here in West Ashley, Brighton Place is quickly becoming a favorite serving opportunity for the people of our church. As we continue to build and strengthen relationships with the people we are serving, this project will allow us to spend some time with the residents, get to know them better through a lively game of Chair Volleyball, a meal, and devotion. This is an opportunity to laugh with and love on these residents! This project has become a highlight in the lives of these residents each month. The residents are wonderful to fellowship with and this project will be so enjoyable, it never even feels like we’re serving.

Sewing experience not required! Come and acquire a new skill while helping others in the community. This team of volunteers will work on zippered pouches for hygiene products that are distributed to those who need them throughout the month at our tailgates in the community. The project will also assist with lap quilts for the elderly in public housing facilities where the church conducts ministry and blankets for premature babies at East Cooper Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant. Even if you’ve never sewn anything in your life, our leaders would love to teach you everything you need to know to help in this ministry!

Our church is well known for feeding people. One of the ways we do that is through our full-service pantry. Patrons are given the option to shop or pick up a preprepared grocery bag to help support their families. This pantry project will help sort incoming donations, provide shopping support to patrons utilizing the pantry, assist with packing grocery bags, prepping blessing box kits, and so much more. This opportunity will help to keep our pantry stocked and running smoothly. Come and help make a direct impact in the life of families!
