Description: Nobody grows up dreaming of waking up, going to work, heading home, watching Netflix, scrolling through social media, and then doing it all over again the next day until their last breath. We all want to be used to change the world. We don’t want to spend our lives being time-wasters, or space-takers, or binge-watchers, or game-players, or even book-readers. We want to be difference-makers. But it’s easy to get caught up in the everyday stuff of life until the years slowly go by, and with each passing year, the question seems to get louder: Am I making any difference in this world?
We want to make a difference, but there are so many opinions on the way to do that. Maybe there’s a different way to make a difference, and we’re just missing it.
Without a doubt, Jesus is the person who has made the biggest difference in all of history. So, how did Jesus make such a difference in this world? If we study the story of his life as recorded in the Gospels, there are a number of answers we could highlight, but there’s one particular phrase that captures how Jesus had such an impact, and this phrase is how he wants to use us to make a difference: one at a time. Making a difference isn’t measured by a viral post or a name on a building. It isn’t determined by a following or a fan base. Making a difference isn’t dependent on what’s in your bank account or who’s in your contacts. Want to make a difference? Focus on the one. That’s it. That’s the secret of the way of Jesus. One at a time.

Let's share, learn, and have a blast through meaningful discussions and activities. It doesn't matter if you're newly matched, chasing toddlers, or established soulmates; we're here to make friends and explore what makes relationships and family life awesome! Looking forward to having you with us!
This group is online. Meeting times will be online.
What we're going to be discussing:
If someone asked you to explain the gospel, what would you say? What is the good news of the Christian faith? Writing to the Galatians, Paul made it clear how easily we can be tempted to turn toward fraudulent gospels, especially those that teach we can earn God’s love through our works. Though they may have the appearance of truth, they are lifeless and leave us empty in the end.
In this Book of the Bible series, Kyle Idleman dives into the book of Galatians, one that contains some of the clearest explanations of the gospel in the New Testament. Through biblical study and engaging lessons, Kyle shows that true freedom is found in surrender, not self-dependence. Because our gospel is not one based on our works, but faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Group Type: Current Small Groups Lifestage: Adult Gender Mix: No Preference Child Care: No - Child Care is not provided. Campus: Mechanicsville
Description: Many people have a tough time believing that God still speaks. We’ve learned from Scripture that God spoke to His people in ancient times and in mysterious ways, but how do we hear His voice now? The truth is God still communicates with His people, but He often speaks in a whisper—not to make it difficult to hear Him, but to draw us close.
In this 4-session series, Mark Batterson teaches what it means for Christians to discern the voice of God in their lives. He will introduce the seven love languages of God—each of them unique and entirely divine. By learning to tune in and decipher each language, Mark equips believers to hear God’s guidance and grow closer to Him.
God is speaking. Do you know how to listen?
Be sure to check out Mark’s book, Whisper: How to Hear the Voice of God. Available wherever books are sold. Additional “Whisper” resources are also available here.

Description: The book of Judges cracks a window into depths of the human soul. Watch a nation struggle with its identity and relationship to its God. Heroes and heroines arise, who seem to have the potential to save Israel. But in the end, each proves to be a broken savior that cannot deliver.
In this series, pastor and author J.D. Greear wades into the book of Judges to shine a light onto the muddy waters of human rebellion. The stories and truths within are not just archaic tales with no relevance for us today. Rather, J.D. works through each chapter unpacking the truth of God’s grace in the midst of human wickedness, and shows how only the divine can redeem the fallen.

Description: Sometimes what we believe about the Christian life comes from a single but prominent point of view—an older Christian we look up to, a preacher, or a parent. But is there only one way of living the life of a Jesus follower?
The Christian life—even one centered on grace—can still feel like a long list of dos and don’ts. But what if there’s more (and less) to our faith than we typically believe? In this series based on his book A Contrarian's Guide to Knowing God, pastor Larry Osborne tackles popular assumptions about Christian living that create stress and failure rather than growth and joy.

Topic of Discussion:
Jonah: When God’s Purpose Isn’t in Your Plans
The book of Jonah is best known for Jonah’s run-in with a large fish. But there’s much more to the story than Jonah’s three-day stay in a fish’s belly. It’s about God’s grace, compassion, and love—even toward wayward people—and his commitment to spreading his message around the world.
In this six-session series, pastor David Platt shows us that God is determined to spread his Word to all the nations of the earth and use his people to do it. The book of Jonah shows us that God desires to transform the hearts of his followers, making them more like him as they carry out his purposes in the world. Join David and get a renewed sense of what it means to orient your life around the mission of God.
