"Basics" is a 12-week study focused on the essentials of following Jesus. Through this series, participants will learn to organize their life around the goals of "Being with Jesus", Becoming like Jesus", and "Doing as Jesus Did", learning some of the key principles and skills practiced by Jesus Himself. BASICS is an interactive experience with discussion, videos, and features the "Practicing the Way" course by John Mark Comer.
Here are a few BASICS Class things to note:
1. If you have kids in our Family Ministry, please sign them in at 6:00 PM in their program. Building B / BASICS doors will open at 5:00 PM for "Hospitality Hour" (carry-in dinner). .
2. BASICS will begin promptly at 6:15. A host will welcome you and give you a BASICS Notebook.
3. If you already know who your table leader is, please find their table. If not, you can sit at any table / leader with open chairs, up to 6 people per table.
4. During the class, men and ladies will be splitting up into same-gender discussion groups of 3 (4 max) called "triads". You may choose to sit together as a couple, however the majority of the class time will be spent split into these weekly "triads". Even if you come as a couple, you may choose to just sit with the men or women you want to be in a triad with. If there is an odd number gender at your table, you may be asked to leave your table to form a triad. We're still figuring this out and won't know until we know…
5. If you are a pre-baptized person who has not yet committed to following Jesus as Lord, you will be asked to attend our "Know Jesus" class in B109. This class is led by Kevin and Dawn Young with Roger Graves. That room is right next door to the main room in B where BASICS will be held and use the same schedule. The Cancer Care Group is an on-going group, that meets every week on Monday from 6:30-8 pm. It is for adult men and women, with any type of cancer diagnosis, at any stage of cancer (newly diagnosed, in treatment, post treatment, metastatic or advanced, or survivors), and just for patients (not caregivers, who can attend the Caregivers Care Group that meets at the same time). This Care Group provides the support and encouragement needed to get through a cancer season. They share stories of love, faith, hope and courage with other cancer patients.
